Image is of a single female figure who is descending a flight of steps, away from a decorated chair, most likely a throne. The woman is wearing a long white dress with long sleeves and a black cape. A white wimple covers her hair and neck. A black decorated headdress is visible beneath the wimple. Her face is turned slightly to the left. A cross hangs on a chain from her neck and she has several rings on her fingers. A dark carpet covers the center of the steps that she is descending. The chair’s square back is decorated with a pattern of crosses and lines that resemble plant stems. The visible edges are lined with a checkered border. A pillow with a tassel hanging from the corner is visible on the seat. At the top center of the image, behind the woman, there is a rectangular window or a tapestry with two ionic columns on either side. Through the window or on the tapestry is a knight holding a flag.. The knight is wearing a full suit of armour and appears to be riding a horse. The knight is viewed in profile and is facing the right side of the image. To the left of the woman is a loom (?) with a candle on its only visible post. The engraver’s signature “Hare Sc” is visible in the bottom left corner. The artist’s mark is visible towards the bottom right side of the image, on the middle step.
