Decorative Image is of stylized tree with branches bending over a pond. The tree’s trunk begins at the bottom left corner with a stylized line and extends to the top right corner of the image. The tree’s leaves are displayed in groups of four and are most dense towards the top of the tree. A thin bough extends out of the top left side of the trunk and curves around to the right side of the page. Five small, nearly identical branches extend upward, out of this bough. These branches each have a leaf at the tip and a smaller branch with a group of three leaves growing out of the right side. Similar groups of leaves appear on the underside of the bough. A pattern of three butterflies descends from the top left corner. They are in a line pointing downwards and curving slightly to the right. Reeds rise on the left side of the image, in front of, adjacent to, and behind the tree trunk, out of the pond that occupies the bottom part of the image. A pattern of iris forms to the right of the reeds. The pond is flanked at the top, bottom and right side by a straight-edged border. Lily pads are visible on the surface of the pond along with a dense pattern of white dots along the lower edge. Three lily or lotus flowers float at the top edge of the water with more lily pads extending out of the water above them on the right side. Beneath the pond’s bottom edge is a white bar with four black boxes containing white text in capital letters. From left to right, the text reads: “June 21,” “July,” “August,” and “Sept 21.” Beneath the white bar, there is a black bar with white text in capital letters that reads from left to right: “Cancer,” “Leo,” Virgo,” and “Libra.” Two lines curve up from the black bar towards the trunk of the tree. Helen Hay’s artist’s mark is in a circle at the top right corner of the pond. The engraver’s signature “Hare Sc” is in the bottom-left corner of the image. The image is displayed vertically.
