Brown leather extends from the front cover to the back cover. The entirety of the back cover is brown, with soft engravings of both a thistle, the national flower of Scotland, and a rampant lion, from the Royal Banner of Scotland. These icons are relatively similar in size and are displayed in a checkerboard pattern across majority the back cover. This pattern is outlined by an engraved frame of plain leather.
