Image is of a boy child sitting on the lap of a Satyr. The boy, named in the title of the image as Apollo, is nude with a bow tied in his hair and he holds a pan-flute while the satyr instructs him on how to hold the instrument. The presence of the pan-flute suggests the satyr may be Pan, and Pan’s arms are wrapped around the child Apollo and Pan helps hold up the flute to Apollo’s mouth. Pan and Apollo are sitting outdoors, in what appears to be a garden, with different flowers surrounding them: there are some tulips, iris, daffodils, hyacinth, dandelion, and plenty of long grass. To the right of Apollo’s foot is a turtle that crawls upwards towards the two. What appears to be the author’s signature is in the lower-left corner, contained within a small, double-lined circle: the signature is a 3-pointed white plant with black stem. The image reproducer’s signature, “Hare Sc” is in the lower-right corner. The image is vertically displayed.
