This hand-coloured half-page illustration is centered above the second page of the story’s text. It is outlined in a thick black rectangular border, in portrait orientation. At the centre of the image is the giant head and upper body of a blue figure, wearing an elaborate headdress and holding a flaming sword above its head. The figure emerges from a cluster of orange flames, which erupt from a snowy mountain. Below, three tiny black human figures gesture over the body of a fourth figure. Behind, turquoise mountains rise up amidst a deep blue sky. The artist’s monogram is in the bottom right corner.
